I was stuck.

I had been working at a job that I knew wasn’t the right fit for me, but I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do instead. It was like I had this internal compass, but it kept pointing me in the wrong direction.

In search of a Life Task

Have you ever had a moment where you just knew that something was it? You just knew that it was your calling, but you didn’t know how to make it happen? It is something you enjoy doing — it doesn’t feel like work and you can get lost in it for hours at a time.

It’s important to take a step back from your life and take inventory of who you are as a person. This is an essential step because it will allow you to discover, prioritize and organize your strengths, weaknesses, interests and experiences — this is going to be the foundation for discovering your Life Task.

Your passions are what mould you into the unique person that you are. They reflect your identity and include things like spending time with family and friends, and activities you enjoy such as sports, hobbies, and interests.

By asking yourself important questions and doing a little soul searching, you can figure out what your life task is.

I’m not sure when I became interested in business. It was a slow process, and I can’t say that there was a single moment where I sat down and thought, “You know what? I think I want to be an entrepreneur.”

Instead, it started with small things: reading about how startups were changing the world, seeing friends find success in their own ventures, and even watching reality shows like Shark Tank.

And then one day, it hit me: this is what I want to do with my life.

I didn’t know if it would work out — but I knew that if they could do it, so could I. And so here we are: I’ve just started my Masters in Business, and now… well now‘s where my journey in Business and blogging begins!

This is the first of a new series where I journal my journey through Robert Greene’s book ‘The Daily laws’. For Part 2, click here.
